lent

Tomorrow the 5th we will be starting lent. Lent which will go through to Thursday 17th April the day before Easter Friday. This is the church tradition that has been practiced for centuries to prepare our hearts for Easter celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 18th-21st April. It’s a time to seek God and ask God to examine our hearts and turn away from all sin. I love that scripture found in Isaiah 30:15 “In repentance(returning to me) and rest is our salvation, in quietness and trust is our strength.

Also in Psalm 19:23 “Search me oh God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts and lead me in the way of everlasting”

There will be scripture readings live on our Southside page on Facebook, every morning and evening starting tomorrow, between 6 am and 8 am, and then in the evening between 5 pm and 6:30 pm. Also, we will be as a church all fasting. You can fast food or maybe something else. Ask the Lord. It might be social media, Netflix, or video games and for our long. For 6 weeks or one week one or even day per week. I know some of you are planning to attempt a 40-day fast, some a Daniel fast for 3 weeks. which is basically eating no meat or rich food and no things like sugar. The best definition of fasting I have ever heard is simply a hunger for more of God. It’s a heart attitude that says I just want more of you and are prepared to sacrifice for food or other things to draw closer to you. Please use those times to pray more and read the scriptures. It's good to have some specific prayer requests, things you want God to do in your life, and direction for unsaved friends or family or the church and God's purposes for us as a people and have an anticipation that God will answer. Pray we would encounter Him in a new fresh way and his resurrection power as we approach easter.

Give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we will know Him better.

WISDOM FROM PROVERBS

I've been reading through Proverbs lately, and I have spent some time pausing to look up words, which, to be honest, I didn't know what they really meant. We tend to do that sometimes. We read things,
