REST

‘This is what the Sovereign Lord the Holy one of Isarael says, “In repentance (in returning to me and resting in me you shall be saved. In quietness and trust is your strength but you would have none of it. And therefore, The lord earnestly waits, expecting and longing to be gracious to you and therefore He lifts Himself up, that he may have mercy on you and show loving kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed happy, fortunate to be envied are all those who earnestly wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him for His victory, His favour, Hi love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless unbroken companionship Amplified Version Isaiah 30:15 and v18

I love this passage and have been mediating on it for the last few weeks. There are some real treasures here. Living in Gods rest is such a key. God is never in our striving, frustration, impatience and agitation. He always works in our life from a place of rest. They are sure signs we are not resting in confidence and resting in in His love with faith. There is a constant returning to Him. Oh the fact that He lift’s Himself up to show His mercy to us and His loving kindness towards us. Its in His rest of love and mercy that comes an expectency and anticipation of Him coming, his victory, his favour, love, peace joy. They all come out of that place of rest in Him. It’s a quiet and confident trust. We can learn to live in this place continually. It starts by running to Him when we feel all the negative emotions arising. Let His peace and joy arise instead.
