BEING FAITHFUL

A frequently asked question is. How does God choose whom He wants to use?

No doubt a large part of that is God's sovereign choice. I mean, think of Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel. It was God's sovereign but there are some other factors that come into it.  One is that he chooses people because he knows they would obey what He asked them to do. Abraham heard God and left His land to go to the land of Canaan. For instance, Billy Graham knew that he was God's second choice. God called someone else, but that person did not obey the call or picked it up.  He's looking for people based on their willingness to obey. It's obvious God does not always choose people because of their raw talent and giftings alone. Look at the 12 disciples Jesus chose. But there is another reason which is even more important. It's found in 1 corith4:2 “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

This is a person who God has found to be faithful, trustworthy, reliable, dependable, true, and unfailing.

It says he must be found or prove faithful..

It’s a discovery made as a result of careful observance..

It tells us God watches carefully our actions and reactions in life. He's watching to see how we treat people, how we respond under pressure, and whether we have the tenacity to stay on track when distractions come to thwart our obedience. He gives us assignments, and he watches to see how we fill those assignments. Did we do it the way he expected? Did we complete it, or did we bail out when it got too hard? God watches us over a long period of time in many different circumstances to see if we are faithful, trustworthy, reliable, true, dependable, and unfailing. He bases His decision on discovery. That’s exactly why God picked David. He was faithful being a shepherd boy protecting that flock of sheep when know one else was looking. He defended them against lions and bears without taking off. God watches what you do, the promises you make to Him, and with the seriousness with which you obey Him. Obedience is a huge thing. Has God found that He can trust you, or would he be wiser to choose someone else?
