book quote from reappearing church

I would like to quote from a book “Reappearing church by a Mark Sayers from the chapter titled ‘Crises the gateway to renewal’

‘We all sense the swirl of chaos in our time; we see the crises all around us. Yet Charles Malik , says something both shocking and profound, that at its deepest level the crises is caused by Christ. This great cultural tumult, this crisis in the world is simply the fact that that Jesus Christ is the Lord and is judging. Malik rightly identifies that the profound crises that both individuals and societies are experiencing in the world is because Christ Presence has now gone out into the world and his presence brings judgement.

Our cultural crises show us the consequences of what happens when we try and take over the controls of the world.

To the human eye the tide seems to have retreated, but out beyond the breakers the power is growing churning in hiddenness, preparing to return with force. God allows the cultural crises to drive us back to him and bring renewal.
