I was reminded of some of Dietrich Bonhoeffers quotes from the book on His life. He was a Lutheran Pastor who stood up against Hitler during the second world war in Germany and paid the ultimate prize of becoming a martyr for Christ. Most of the Lutheran church embraced the Nazi regime and those who resisted were conscripted into the army and over 300 died in the war. Dietrich stood up against Hitler and Nazi party and the treatment towards the Jews. He showed us the true cost of discipleship at any cost to follow Christ and to call out evil when He saw it and to never compromise His faith. His book is a must read for any Christian today and where the world is heading.
Here are some of His quotes from the book.
He was thinking about the deep call of Christ which is not about winning but about submission to God wherever that might lead.
That’s the cost of true discipleship. Its costly and can lead to death. Its submitting to God wherever it might lead you.
Death is the supreme festival on the road to freedom. Loving not our lives unto death if necessary.
Moral integrity begins when he is prepared to sacrifice his life for his convictions.
Amazing testimony of what it means to a true disciple of Jesus Christ. It is indeed costly to be true follower of Christ.
