DONT BE UNSETTLED

“….not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy report or letter supposed to come from us saying that the day of the Lord has already come” 2 Thes 2:2

This is from Rick Renners daily reading Sparkling Gems

Paul was writing to them about events that would occur before the 2nd coming of the Lord, and he wanted them to be prepared them so they would not be thrown off guard and go into panic. We saw that with the coronavirus and how it threw much of the church into chaos and caused panic and fear even in the church. It was a crazy time. And that was nothing compared to what will come on the earth.

He says not to be easily unsettled or shaken, as some translations say.

Shaken means to shake, to waver to totter, or to be moved which results in shock or alarm.

Don’t be easily shaken by events that occur just before the coming of the Lord. Some had written a letter not from the Apostles saying the day of the Lord had already come and it through them into panic. He specifically says don’t be shaken in mind. Fear began to grip their minds. Whoever or whatever controls a person's mind ultimately has the power to dictate and control the affairs and outcome of a person’s life. Again, we saw that with the coronavirus. We also see that this has increasingly been perpetrated through climate change. The fear and anxiety in young people especially.

Paul is saying don’t let fear from these shocking and stressful events penetrate their minds and emotions.  It's far worse today with modern media.  It is bombarded into our minds constantly.

Then he goes on to say don’t be alarmed or troubled which indicates inward fright and fear so we become devoured with worry, anxiety, and fear. Putting you’re your nerves on edge and making you feel apprehensive and insecure about life and even the future. We have to be determined to stay in faith and stand against fear. Let the word of God dwell in you richly so as to keep you in peace. There is no doubt that we are living in the very end of the last days. Things are changing so fast it's hard to keep up. Now’s the time to gird up our hearts and minds with God's word
