I can do nothing

‘My father is always at His work to this very day and I too am working” John 5:17

“Very truly I tell you. The son can only do nothing by Himself he can only do what he sees His father doing, because whatever the Father does the son does also. For the father loves the son and shows Him all does.”

John 5:19

These verses were central to John Wimbers approach to any ministry and reaching out with the Kingdom and the Gospel. Firstly, notice Jesus’ ministry came out of the place of intimacy with His Father. Like wise everything we do has to come out of the place of our intimacy with Jesus and our Father otherwise we will strive and move out of a sense of condemnation and try to make things happen out of our own strength. It comes out of rest in Him and a realization God is always working every day to draw people to himself and to bring his kingdom presence. Our part is to hear and see what he is doing and where he is working because we can do nothing out of ourselves. Jesus said as the Father has loved me so I have you. That’s mind blowing so that means we can hear the Father speaking and leading us every day. We need to come to Jesus every morning with child like faith and simply and specifically pray. “Lord where are you working today because you are working. Give me define appointments.”  I have notice when I approach my day with that simple child like faith and are constant and serious about it, he will bring appointments across my path. Divine interruptions coincidences will start happening. It’s looking to see where he is moving and what he is doing. Here are to ancient quotes which help. ‘Keep yours open for God watch for his works be alert for signs of His presence.” And “You are praying before I am, God. I’m simply joining the conversation” I love that. It takes the wait off me as if I have to make something happen. Its more about having anticipation and expectency in our own hearts.
