ISAIAH 53;5

“But here was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him… “

Pierced or wounded in the Hebrew conveys a sense of being pierced or deeply wounded, pointing with clarity to the future piercing of Jesus' hands, feet, and side.

Transgression refers to violations of God's commandments and includes sin, rebellion, and turning against God. Christ would be physically pierced and would bear physical wounds, shedding his own blood to pay the ultimate price for our sins and acts of rebellion. He was bruised or crushed, meaning to beat to pieces, to crush or destroy. Iniquities offers forgiveness and freedom from all human failings, guilt, moral lapses, depravity, perversity, and shame. This is just more than covering our sins its obliterating them with all the shame and guilt attached to them.

Punishment for our past activities paved the way for us to have peace. Shalom. More than tranquility, but a state of wholeness and completeness in every part of our lives. It also encompasses health and happiness, safety, security, and soundness of mind. He was not only bearing our sin but also securing well being in every way. Spirit, soul, and body. We would experience profound peace of mind, and we would thrive in every aspect of our lives.
