SEEKING GOD

We often hear and use the phrase we need to seek God but what does that actually mean? We often think it is fasting, spending more time in prayer, or reading the Bible more, or even attending more meetings but to be honest I am not sure if that is even that helpful. It can be too daunting for most people with busy lives already working and juggling family and then church activities. I think we all know developing a regular devotional is important but of some even struggle already with that. So when we see seek the Lord what does that look like? I listen to Graham Cooke a lot and find some of his stuff so helpful.

Some of his definitions of seeking the Lord go like this which I found so freeing. “When the Bible says seek Him -seek the Lord. It really means stop for a moment in whatever you are doing and whatever situation you are in and look around to find where God is in that situation. Seek what comes from His presence, His wisdom, favour blessing, and power.”

In other words, it's learning to abide in Him and being aware of His presence by just lifting our hearts to Him whenever we have a free moment during the day. I love that. That’s a great discipline we can all practice.

He also said

It's impossible to have a situation where God is not present. Therefore, I think seeking Him simply means that every circumstance or situation is another opportunity for you and Jesus to have a conversation.

It's practicing his presence – the art of being aware He lives in you so he's always there and so often seeking Him is just simply lifting your heart to Him and acknowledging He’s in me He is with me and He is for me 24/7.

I found these statements so helpful.
