THE NEXT GENERATION

“Give me the grace to demonstrate to the next generation all your mighty miracles and your excitement to show them your magnificent power”

Psalm 71:18 Passion Translation

This psalm is entitled, the psalm of Old Age and it was written towards the end of David’s life and so it’s fascinating to have a glimpse and insight into David’s heart in old age. This makes this verse even more powerful for us who are getting older into the 2nd half of our lives. This is needs to be the focus and prayer and cry of our hearts in intercession for the next generation. We need the grace to show and demonstrate the power of God to the next generation. We have a responsibility and mandate to do this. They need to encounter the living God for themselves and see and experience His magnificent power. They are already and are going to experience a world that we never experienced growing up. The song lyrics come to mind ‘Where is the Lord of God of Elijah’. God we need you to come for the sake of the next 2 generations. Come and pour out your spirit. Bring a fresh Pentecost of power and fire upon them to run their race and finish their course. Is this what excites us.
