WISDOM

If you keep on talking it won’t be long before you something really wrong. Prove you are wise from the very start just bite your tongue and be strong.

Proverbs 10:19 passion translation.

I love the book of proverbs. It’s full of ageless wisdom. I read the other day a definition of wisdom. ‘The knowledge of things that never change.’ I love that.

We live in a world where people carelessly rush into things. Because of modern media, Facebook, twitter and so forth people are getting louder, louder, more and more brazen in what they say online, quick to speak and too sure about their opinions. A lot of it has become like verbal diarrhoea on steroids. We can easily join millions of others to get people’s attention. The world is speaking louder and quicker than ever before. It’s tempting to speak faster and scream louder so your voice won’t be drowned out. Here’s good sound wisdom. Biblical wisdom is clear, those who talk a lot sin a lot. James 1:19 says ‘let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak. Have you noticed the opposite is happening in our society? People are listening less and less to each other and are just yelling at each other. Everybody is offended. More and more people are eager to fight, waiting for anyone to misspeak online so they can pounce. There has never been a time like this.

It is becoming the sin of arrogance very fast. Let’s not join in as believer's.

“Can you bridle your tongue when your heart is under pressure? That’s how you show you are wise.” Proverbs17:27

V28 “so shut your mouth when you are provoked it makes you look smart”
