EVANGELISM

At the evangelism training course, we talked about the fact that we are all called to be witnesses for Christ which comes from Jesus when he told his disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit which happened in Acts 2. Jesus said you would receive power to be my witnesses. But there are very few who are called to be evangelists. What’s interesting is that all the statistics clearly show that 80 to 90 of all people come to Christ through family and friends and usually by being invited to church or a Christian group of some sort. Very, very few come to Christ through a stranger talking to them. This fact was born out when I asked everyone how they came to Christ at the course of about 30 people. Everyone came to Christ through family or friend except for 2 people. Jesus said he would make his disciples fishers of men. The best place to go fishing is with your family or your sphere of influence. Friends at school or your work place. It starts first by daily praying for them and then inviting them to church or one of your groups. Keep it simple and precise. Make a list of 2 or 3 friends and lift them before the Lord faithfully every day and see what God will do. The Bible says the devil blinds the eyes of people to not see the need for Jesus and salvation. Pray specifically to the Lord for Him to remove the blindness off their eyes, to open their eyes to see. This is the most fruitful and affective way to witness, along with your very life, how you conduct and live your life. The power of invitation is still the most affective way for most of us unless you have a specific evangelistic calling on your life.
