NATIONS

Writer: robinhornrobinhorn

“If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it” Jeremiah 18:7-10

This one of the clearest and sobering passages in the Bible on how God deals with all the nations of the earth since the beginning of creation up to this day. This can take centuries to be played out because God is slow to anger and rich in love to all of His creation and he desires all men and nations everywhere to repent. So he delays it long as he possibly can. You think how long the Roman Empire lasted before God said enough. There is a point when God does says enough and in a sense he pulls the plug and only He knows that point. He can only tolerate sin, unrighteousness and rebellion to a certain point. He always brings warnings through different prophetic voices for those who have ears to hear. Often a nation is just a reflection of where the church, His people are really at spiritually. The church is like the spiritual barometer of a nation. It’s interesting in the book of Hebrews it says judgement begins in the house of God. He always tries and gets His people’s attention first. The church is meant to be the salt and the light of the nation and once that’s lost we are in trouble.
