THE GREAT MYSTERY

“I have become its servant (the church) by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness -the mystery that had been kept hidden for ages and generations …….. the glorious ruches of this mystery which is Christ in you the hope of glory”

Colossians 1:25 -27

Paul was an Apostle who wrote most of the New Testament and he was consumed with one goal, the mystery of God in the church. This is the true New Testament Apostolic vision of building Gods church. It’s the fact that Christ now lives in us. We have become the temple of the living God. We don’t realize just how radical that is. It was a mystery hidden since Adam and Eve and it was revealed now through the coming of Jesus. For Jews and the pagan world, it was scandalous. For the Jews the temple was where God dwelt with His very presence. Now God was dwelling in human beings through Jesus Christ and His Spirit. That idea would have sounded ridiculous to hearers those days. How could the holy powerful God now live in sinful man. Colossians 3:3 says you have died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God and that famous verse in Galations 5:20. “It’s no longer I that lives but Christ that lives in me” Jesus Christ the Lord of Lord the living resurrected Christ has now taken up residence in you and I and so we have access to Him. Paul prays in Ephesian’s that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith which can be translated ‘that he may feel completely at home with in you’. No wonder it was the core of the Apostolic message to the church. This truth should revolution our lives in how we live and walk.
