We had a great conference last week. Ted Kim a vineyard Korean Pastor from Chicago gave a really good message which I will try and share briefly with you.
He spoke from John 15:16
“You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the father will give you whatever you ask in my name”
He reminded us whatever you are doing it needs to be rooted in the fact God chose you for that task. You need to settle that in your heart even though you may feel inadequate and in that he wants you to bear fruit and fruit that will last.
The thing about fruit bearing it only happens once a year. There are times and seasons of no fruit bearing and that’s ok. How the world operates and how we operate and His church is the opposite. The world is all about bigger, more efficient, more activity. It becomes this machine you can’t get off. The harder or more efficient we work the better. The worlds way of capitalism actually leads to death in the end. We want fruit all year round. That’s not the kingdom. Know the season you are in. its ok to rest.
The kingdom is already in our midst. We take 2 postures – welcome the Kingdom and ask. Not something we achieve; we welcome by asking. It’s couched in the context of relationship with our Father, and we come as His children, and He delights in our asking. Little children are always asking. He challenged us to write down specifically things we are asking for from our Father.
So, what are you asking for. Write down 3 or 4 specific things. The size of your asking is your measure of trust and of your faith level. Maybe salvation of family members. Work mates, school mates been saved, Church building for Southside. Maybe you have faith to ask for this nation to come to Christ. Ask the Father. This is Jesus’ speaking. He’s inviting us into this simple childlike faith. Keep asking keep knocking keep seeking. Its in the asking that we often transformed and changed. Don’t give up on His invitation to ask. He wants us to bear fruit and fruit that lasts.
