strengthen yourself in the Lord

“And I pray that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good thing that is ours in our identification with Christ Jesus and unto his glory.

Philemon 6 Amplified version.

This is a fascinating little verse that Rick Renner expounds on in his sparkling Gems. It's all about speaking well of yourself in the light of who we are in Christ. Our identification in Christ as a new creation. Often, we are our own worst enemy and we constantly speak negatively of ourselves. We become hypercritical of ourselves. We need to start acknowledging who we are in Christ. How he sees us, and what He has invested in us, and how he sees us. We need to speak well about ourselves according to how Christ sees us. We need to activate His blessings in our lives by activating our faith. The communication of your faith may become energised and activated. Psalm 103 :1-5 is a good place to start for me, and I often go here and just begin to declare who I am in Him. Praise the Lord, oh my soul, all my innermost being praises His holy name. Praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all his benefits.

Then he lists all his benefits. Who I am in Christ

Who forgives all my sins

Heals all my diseases

Redeems my life from the pit

Crowns me with love and compassion.

Who satisfies my life with good things

So that my youth is renewed like the eagles.

This is powerful because it’s disciplining ourselves to speak to our souls, to command our souls to line up with who we are in Christ. It is self-talk and is so important in our walk. Its releasing faith into our lives. The key is the word of God the ignition is our mouth. The key of the ignition is turned on when we open our mouth and start to speak truth. This is how we begin to strengthen ourselves in the Lord. We don’t realize how powerful is the declaration of Gods word over our lives and who we are in Christ.  Declaring every morning I’m holy righteous and blameless before Him because of Jesus Christ. I’m alive in Christ today to shine for Him.  1 Samuel 30:6. David strengthened himself in the Lord.

He was having a bad, bad day. His secret. Strengthened himself in the Lord. How. Probably something like Psalm 103 which he wrote and sang.
