I was reading from the Psalms this morning, and I came across a verse Psalm 89:15
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.”
The word acclaim stuck out, and I thought what does that mean so I looked it up. It was interesting. To acclaim the Lord means to praise Him openly and enthusiastically, often in a way that others can hear or see. It carries the idea of loud public praise, joyful approval, honouring someone with words or actions. So when you acclaim the Lord, you are not just quietly believing in Him, you are expressing your praise outwardly, such as speaking well of him, singing worship songs, thanking Him openly, and declaring His greatness to others. This idea is often connected with expressions like Shout for joy to the Lord, worship the Lord with gladness come before Him with joyful songs Psalm 110:1. Praise His name. Declaring his glory to the Nations. It's full of gratitude and awe and is expressed loudly, Psalm 47:1: " Clap your hands, all nations shout to God with cries of joy. This shows acclaim involving physical expression. So it's not just personal its shared outwardly. Interesting, it says in Psalm 89:15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim Him. It's something we have to learn to do. It seems for most of us it doesn't come naturally, especially if you are a bit of an introvert, but we can learn by an act of our will. Interesting challenge.
