He who speaks in tongues edifies himself 1 Corinthians 14:4
For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but God, for no one understands him but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 14:2.
I have felt challenged lately, and a strong urge to speak in tongues a lot more than I have. I'm convinced we have neglected this to our own detriment, and we insult and even grieve the Spirit of grace when we don’t press into praying in tongues much more than we do. It’s a precious gift that the Lord has given to help us strengthen ourselves and to keep the fire burning in our hearts. I feel many of us are not honoring this precious gift and pressing in with it. God gives it to us for a reason. It’s a powerful weapon we need to exercise. Edify means to build up, strengthen and empowers us. It enlightens us and uplifts us morally, spiritually and intellectually. We cannot neglect it. Learn to take time out every day to just pray in tongues and even ask God to give you new languages, because there are diverse tongues, and you can enter into a new place. Don’t allow apathy or the enemy whisper to you; it doesn't do anything, or even feeling embarrassed by it. Realise that’s the devil because he hates it, and so don’t listen to his lies and play into his game. It's time to wake up. Set a time every day where you set 30 min or 1 hour and just pray in tongues. With boldness and confidence, knowing that you are praying in the will of God mysteries to Him, praying for God's future plans for your life. I just sense it’s a critical time and a season of preparation for what’s coming, and we must press in to the things of the Lord. Let's stir ourselves up in the Holy Spirit. Don’t allow indifference to grab hold of our hearts. God always responds to our hunger and longing for more of Him. It’s not an option any more, and it starts with us just stirring up the gift of tongues and begin to take it seriously. 5 mins every day will not cut it.
