BE DILIGENT

Let's have a look at another proverb

Proverb 13:4

A sluggard's appetite is never filled. But the desire of the diligent are fully satisfied.

This proverb is the contrast between a sluggard, a lazy person, and the diligent.

A lazy person will stay frustrated and unsatisfied. It's not that they do not want things its that they don’t follow through.

A diligent person means a steady, faithful worker.

Diligent means consistent, disciplined effort over a very long time, not frantic striving. The whole course of your life, actually. So it's not how fast you go, but just being consistent. The Christian life is like that. Been consistent over the long haul. Things like attending church and belonging to a community over the long haul. Consistent Bible reading and prayer life. Their desires are fully satisfied. Because they align effort with purpose. These are things that need to be non-negotiable in your life. They bring contentment, fruitfulness, and stability in your life. That’s what a life of faithfulness actually looks like. Diligence is often tied to wisdom, faithfulness, and trust in God through the seasons of life. A lazy life leads to emptiness. Faithful effort leads to fulfilment. That’s how you run this race God has set before you. It's not how you start but how you finish. I have seen countless people who loved Jesus, but somewhere along the line, they stopped being faithful in being connected to a church family, stopped reading the Bible or praying, and their lives haven't ended well. Being diligent is godly wisdom. It's often not seen and not dramatic, and even looked down on as mundane or boring.
