Beware of offenses

‘You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing things with logic. True power is restraint. If words control you that means everyone else can control you. Breath and allow things to pass’

This is one of those random quotes someone sent me on Facebook but it immediately struck a chord with me so I wrote it down probably because it struck a raw nerve in me. On sun I shared in part about the enemies No one attack against us is to make us offended with one another and he works overtime to do that. Over the years my observation is that the vast majority of people who leave the church and stop fellowshipping is because they got offended over something that somebody said to them. Nothing puts out the fire of God in our hearts quicker than getting offended. I would suggest that our emotional reaction to being offended means we have some unhealed areas in our life. We are operating from our soul area instead of our spirit man. We are no longer walking in love or been controlled by Christ within us. Ouch. We need to recognize what’s going on and see it for what it is and bring it to the cross. We don’t have a right to be offended. Let’s guard our hearts.

Remember the old saying, If someone gets on your goat you have a goat to get
