DONT BE OVERWHELMED

“…not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report saying that the day of the Lord has already come”

2 Thess 2:2

Paul wrote to this church to warn them about events that would happen just before the return of the Lord. He wanted to prepare them and that they wouldn’t be shaken in mind or be troubled in their Spirits. We are living in a time of huge upheaval in the world in different places. The word unsettled or shaken means to shake, totter or to be moved. Its referring events so dramatic that they could results in shock or alarm. It strongly suggests devasting occurrences or a sequence of events so dramatic that it will throw the world into a state of shock and distress.

Paul was writing to resist being easily shaken up by events that will occur just before the coming of the lord. Some translations say shaken in mind which includes ones will, emotions and ability to think, reason and decide.

We cannot allow our minds to be doused with panic or fear. Allowing fear to grow and control their lives. We need to make sure we are close to Jesus and let His word rule our lives and live in His peace. We are not to be alarmed or troubled which indicates and inward fright that results from what’s coming upon the earth that causes us to be devoured by worry, fear and anxiety.

We are of a different Kingdom. We belong to Jesus and we need to make sure we are rooted and grounded in Him. We live in a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. Don’t be surprised what’s coming upon the earth. Its time to lift our eyes and declare our redemption draws nigh. Paul urges us not to allow. He tells us to get a grip on our minds and refuse to be shaken or moved by anything we hear and see that steals our peace, joy and peace and victory. We need to be deeply rooted in in the confidence of God’s word and promises.
