LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

“Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you” Isaiah 60:1-3

I remember sharing this at our Christmas Eve service last year.

This is prophesying about the coming of Jesus and light coming into the world and when we came to Christ, his light and glory came upon us to be a light in the world, just like He became a light to the world. We exist to be a light in this world. Every day we wake up we are a light to those around us. We are called to shine. To not shine as a light becomes a betrayal to who we are and why we are here and why we exist in the earth. Jesus stated I am the light of the world and it says as he was in the world, so we are in this world. If we don’t allow our light to shine, we have missed one of the main reasons why we exist in this life.  We shine by our we live and conduct our lives and by sharing the love of Jesus as Gods opens the doors. We can’t lead anyone to Christ. That is the work of the Holy Spirit as we share Jesus.  Let’s not hide our lamp under a bushel. We are to be salt that preserves our society. If salt loses its saltiness, it's good for nothing but to be thrown out. It’s our calling in this world. Let’s be faithful to it and not get so caught up in this life that we forget why we are here. Ask God to make you a light and give you opportunities every day to shine for Him.
