ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS

"I remember boasting. “I have got it made! Nothing can stop me now. I’m Gods favoured one, He’s made me steady "as a mountain!”

Then all at once, you hid your face from me. I was panic stricken and became so depressed. Psalm 30:6-7 passion translation

You have to love David’s honesty. From the mountain top into the valley. Who hasn’t experienced this before? The roller coaster of our feelings and emotions is something we all struggle with. It seems inevitable at times God consciously withdrawals himself to test our hearts and to see how we respond and trust in Him when we don’t have any feelings of Him. Will we still trust in Him and His word and His promises? Will we still praise Him? Rejoice and shout when everything inside of us doesn’t want to. Will we continue to respond to him out of the pure act of our will – the true sacrifice of praise?

David’s response was amazing. In the next verse he states

“Still I cried out to you Lord, I shouted out for mercy.”

There is a place where you can praise your way out of darkness into His light. David learnt that secret.

V11 he then broke through and transformed my wailing into a twirling dance of ecstatic praise”

Talk about a roller coaster ride of emotions.
