“I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God and heaven without hell”
Quote from William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army
This quote from William Booth is amazing. He spoke it probably over 120 years ago and it has proven to be a powerful word and prophetic statement and warning that has come to pass unfortunately in much of the Western church. This is the age we are living in. The power of the temptation of seduction – the seduction to try and save the world without the cross and without the power of the Holy Spirit and fire. The watering down of the Gospel and his word to compromise and to accommodate the world. As we have seen looking at the seven churches over the last few weeks the greatest failure and sin was compromise of the truth and Gods word to make us more acceptable to the culture around us. Jesus comes to rebuke and discipline because he loves His church. It’s no different today. Jesus will come, is coming to rebuke and cleanse His church from all compromise and luke- warmness. He will not accept anything less from His bride.
