WORSHIP

You have built a stronghold by the songs of babies. Strength rises up with the chorus of singing children. This kind of praise has the power to shut Satan’s mouth. Childlike worship will silence the madness of those who oppose you. Psalm 8:2 passion translation

What a fascinating verse on the power of praise and worship. What is it about childlike worship and what does that even mean for us as adults. We as adults tend to be very restrained in our worship and very self-conscience but there is something about children when they worship which is very unpretentious, a childlike faith free and abandoned, a simplicity of simple trust maybe. The New Testament talks about the weapons of warfare God has given us. We know that we have the word of God which is powerful but praise and worship is also a very powerful weapon when approached with a childlike trust and abandonment. I just wonder how many times we enter into that realm not just on a sun morning but in our personal times with the Lord. We know the psalms tell us to enter his very presence with thanksgiving and praise and all its expressions but how often do we really enter into that space. It takes time and focus. Sometimes we can become so restrained and sophisticated but miss the true heart of what it means to worship Jesus. After all it’s meant to be a heart connection with Him. A challenge indeed
